Birthday Celebration #3

Okay, I think we're back in the drink! Teen is resting all day, little one is doing her schoolwork (with my help of course.) But this means I have time to write another blogpost in between lessons.

Speaking of drink, the food and drink at a party are always fun to plan. On our combined family gatherings we tend to have party favorites, everyone's specialty dish. I love to make Chicken Enchiladas or Buca de Beppo inspired Tortellini. One of my sisters in law is the cheesy potato maker, while dad makes the best crab chicken you've ever laid teeth on! (I'll have to share these recipes soon.) One dinner we had a lo-country boil Can you say yum?!

You are having such a party!

We love the crab rangoon dip with warm, crunchy wonton wrapper dippers.

Yesterday, oldest son called wanting to know the ingredients for his favorite punch, just because he wanted some!

Go figure.

the dial-up is being weird--sorry if i comment fifteen times . . .

Did you have to mention the crab rangoon? Now I have to call Mindy for the recipe. That is so yum!

I love to serve a lot of appetizers at a party -- quesadillas, baked brie with bruschetta, goat cheese in pastry, homemade guacamole and salsa...sometimes we just fill up on that kind of food rather than a big meal.

If it's a dinner party I love to make Nigella Lawson's Penne a la Vodka...it takes no time to make and the best thing is you can be talking with your guests while you cook. That plus a caesar salad and baguettes is delicious. I also like to make Jamie Oliver's Risotto for the same reason.

Now I'm hungry and need to go make supper!!

Oh my, not sure where to even start but I definitely love appetizers, too!

I make stuffed mushrooms every Christmas Eve gathering, here is a simple recipe I made up:

I think everyone knows the grape jelly meatball recipe, but my twist is to use pretty much the same ingredients but us cranberry sauce instead of grape jelly--that's another fav of ours.

Another good dip is a white pizza dip:

What a great idea for a party!!

One of my favorite things to make and serve is a baked artichoke dip with lots and lots of cheese. Yuuuummm. I also make a mean chocolate, chocolate chip cake, 7-up cake, and sock-it-to-me cake. Don't want to take up space here with all of the recipes, so if you'd like them, just e-me and I'll send them to you *smiles*

I'm loving your give-aways!!!

I have to admit my parties are usually store bought stuff, I'm just not that organized.

I would love to say I make the best appetizers and drinks but that's just not me.

I do enjoy the fruity drinks with a tropical flair ...

Stuffed olives or mushrooms are the best ...

love the simple spinach dip with marbled soft bread ...

and anything with feta cheese!!!!

Sorry I don't have any recipes to share!

Hey Kris,

Man that punch looks yummy! The last party I hosted I made Butternut Squash Fries with Chili Salt and Maple Cream and Figs stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped with bacon.

Your birthday is 2 days before mine!

My families all time fav for parties and holidays is pickle rollups. They are buddings corn beef slices, slice of dill pickle and a slice of cream cheese. My DD is the new hostess of these she loves making them and they are easy to make!

Me again - boy you are offering such yummy blog candy. I can hope right????

Oh I love nachos, they are so easy to whip up and you can put out several different bowls filled with different toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, beef stripes, chicken strips, etc. That way your guests can choose their own toppings! have a big bowl out of shredded or melted cheese for them to choose from!
